Any lawyers in the house?
The folks at Slightly Creaky are volunteers. None of us get any salary or compensation in any form. We are not a corporation, just a few folks working out of our houses. If anything on this site bothers you, if you notice mistakes, please let us know. While we do maintain editorial rights, things slip past, especially on the message boards. The submitted columns and news articles, as well as the postings on the message boards, belong to the contributor(s), not to the Slightly Creaky team.

Other Information
How do I submit an Article to Slightly Creaky?
Email the article to suggestions@slightlycreaky in Word or Text file or directly on the Email form. Don't forget to include your short bio.
What are the chances of an article being accepted?
Only original articles are accepted by Slightly Creaky. After viewing your article we may edit the article (rarely), and then publish. Most submitted articles do get published. We will send you an Email as acknowledgement of receipt and another should we decide to publish (usually within one week). The actual date of publication depends upon how many articles we have on that topic at the moment. We try to Email you to let you know the approximate date of publication. If we are unable to publish for some reason we will also let you know
Denial of acceptance may be due to the article being off topic if there have been too many recent articles of a similar type, or if the quality of content is not up to our standards. We do appreciate your contribution and will do our best to include your article.
How can I ensure that my article gets published?
We seek material that is original and relevant to the topics on our site, as well as following our submission and editorial policies. As a guide, look at the type of articles already published. We like to keep our content varied, so try submitting an article unlike those we have published recently.
Who holds the copyright for submitted articles?
You as the writer retain the copyright to the article, and are in effect allowing Slightly Creaky to publish it for an indefinite period of time at the sole discretion of our editors. We may edit your submission, though other than conforming to APA style and improving the title this is rarely done to the textual material.
Can I copy someone else's article from another website to submit here ?
All submissions must be your original work, any articles found to be copies from somewhere else will be deleted without notice.
What do I get for submitting an article?
Slightly Creaky is a free service and not in competition with any other web site or media. We therefore seek to promote articles purely on the basis of the quality of content and thereby provide article submitters with additional traffic by permitting them to include a link to their own web site. Authors should include one or two urls to their website and brief description of the services offered in the short (no more than 40 words) biography you submit.
Those who submit three or more articles in a two-month period will also be granted a three month supporter’s advertisement box for free.
There is no monetary compensation for published articles, as Slightly Creaky is a free service to our viewers; neither are there plans to move towards a subscription service at any time.
Someone posted my Article without permission to do so or accreditation
We have a strict policy of deleting copied articles. Please send an email to suggestions@slightlycreaky.com indicating: 1) The original article i.e. your website, or publication entry, and 2) The url to the article published on Slightly Creaky. Usually, we seek to resolve such matters within 48-hours of receipt of your request.

Link Policy
Slightly Creaky is a web directory of Internet resources, similar to a reference library. The directories are arranged by subject. Slightly Creaky is maintained by community editors who evaluate sites for inclusion in the directory. They are our experts, and all submissions are subject to editor evaluation.
We care a great deal about the quality of Slightly Creaky. We aren't a search engine and pride ourselves on being highly selective. We don't accept all sites, so please don't take it personally should your site not be accepted. Our goal is to make the directory as useful as possible for our viewers, not to have the directory include all (or even most) of the sites that could possibly be listed or serve as a promotional tool for the items listed.
To keep Slightly Creaky running smoothly and to assist us in exercising our editorial discretion, we have set up policies for submitting sites. We may reject, delete, or edit submissions that violate these policies or that we otherwise believe should not be included. We may also reject, delete, or block other sites that we believe to be associated with a user who has violated these policies. All Internet link submissions are to be sent to suggestions@slightlycreaky.
1. Determine whether a site is appropriate for submission to Slightly Creaky. Sites with overlapping and repetitive content are not helpful to our viewers. Do not submit any site with an address that redirects to another address. Slightly Creaky has a policy against the inclusion of sites with illegal content including child pornography, libel, material that violates any intellectual property right, and sites that advocate, solicit or abet illegal activity. Do not submit sites "under construction."
2. Do a search on the appropriate Slightly Creaky page to be sure your site isn't already listed.
3. Identify the best category for your site. Slightly Creaky has an enormous array of subjects to choose from. You should submit a site to the single most relevant category.
4. Annotations of the submitted sites should describe the content of the site concisely and accurately. They should not be promotional in nature. Look at the current annotations to get an idea of what we use. Brief quotes from mission statements or from other parts of the suggested link are acceptable as long as they are appropriate and in quotation marks.
5. Once a link is submitted and accepted by Slightly Creaky, we retain the right to maintain that link as long as we feel it is appropriate.
After your link is submitted, a Slightly Creaky editor will review your submission to determine whether to include it. It may take up to a week before your submission is reviewed. Please only submit a URL to Slightly Creaky once. If you are dissatisfied with how the site is described or titled, contact us at (suggestions@slightlycreaky.com). Be polite and civil, threatening or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
We must exercise our discretion as to how to make Slightly Creaky as useful as possible, no matter what decision we make, we may not always satisfy everyone. You may not always agree with our choices, but we hope you recognize that we do our best to make fair and reasonable decisions.
The Slightly Creaky team welcomes comments and feedback about the directory generally. Please let us know what you think, and how we can improve the service. Thanks!
